Easy-to-Follow Guide to Filing Application for the BCS Test Successfully

The highly coveted BCS examination is one of the widely recognized exams in Bangladesh, providing civil service jobs under the government. Annually, tens of thousands of aspirants vie for limited spots. To kick off your journey, you must complete the application process. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you apply successfully.

Step 1: Visit the Official Website

To proceed with applying, visit the Bangladesh Public Service Commission website: www.bpsc.gov.bd. This is the sole portal for BCS exam announcements and applications. Stay cautious from unofficial websites.

Step 2: Download the Circular

Navigate to the latest BCS exam circular under the announcements section. The circular contains important information, such as applicant guidelines, application deadlines, examination syllabus, and other critical instructions.

Step 3: Check Eligibility

Examine the guidelines, which include age limits, educational qualifications, and citizenship requirements. The commonly required age limit is from 21 to 30 years for general candidates, but relaxations can be granted for specific groups such as freedom fighters’ heirs or disabled individuals.

Step 4: Register Online

Navigate to the BCS Online Application Form (Form 1). Provide all compulsory fields, such as candidate details, academic qualifications, and job preferences. Review for any errors. Providing wrong information can lead to dismissal.

Step 5: Upload Documents

You must upload a fresh copyright-sized photograph (dimension of 300x300 pixels, file size below 100 KB) and your signature (with dimensions 300x80, file size below 60 kilobytes max). Ensure these are as per the guidelines mentioned in the circular.

Step 6: Pay the Application Fee

After finishing the online form, you will be provided with a User ID. Use this ID to submit the application fee through Teletalk SMS services. The fee is usually BDT 700 for general candidates and BDT 100 for others. Follow the SMS format provided in the circular.

Step 7: Confirm Submission

Once the fee is paid, you will receive a confirmation SMS with a payment reference ID. Keep this ID for future reference. Return to the application portal to confirm the payment status.

Final Tips

Submit your application well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues.

Print a copy of the submitted form for future use, such as for obtaining the admit card.

By following these steps, you can successfully apply for the BCS exam and take a step closer your ambition in the Bangladesh Civil Service. All the best!
